We analyzed the 65 patients of the scirrhous gastric cancer who were admitted to Department of Surgery, Kwangju Christian Hosptial from Jan. 1984 to Dec. 1989.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1) Scirrhous gastric cancers of the body and fundus were 29 cases(44.6%) and 36 cases(55.4% were located on the antrum and pylorus.
2) In the cancer shape, ulceroinfilrative types were more than half in the antrum and pyloric group, while diffuse infiltrative types were more than half in the fundus and body group.
3) Cancer penetrated through the serosa and invaded the contiguous structure in 17 cases (58.7%) of the fundus and body group, but in 7 cases(19.4%) of the antrum and pyloric group.
4) In the regional lymph node metastasis, difference of both group was not significant.
5) Peritoneal seeding was positive in 12 cases(41.4%) of the fundus and body group and in 3 cases(8.4%) of the antrum and pyloric group.
6) In the TNM stage, 65% of the fundus and body group was stage IV, and 27.8% of the antrum and pyloric group was stage IV.
7) One year survival rate was 3.4% in the fundus and body group, while that of the antum and pyloric group was 41.7%
